Ilse Akkermans (1972) grew up in the small village of Driel. She finished her study of Communication Sciences in 1995. After graduating, she travelled to Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. From 2001 to 2012, she was a journalist and reporter for Het Financieele Dagblad, De Telegraaf and ANP press agency. She specialized in Economy and Fraud. Now she is a juridical journalist living in Amsterdam. Destination Soerabaja is her first novel.
